How to convert JPG to separate PNG, WebP or GIF files, or build one animation with PixHandy
- 1Choose the JPG sources
Arrange the source order and decide whether the job needs independent files or an explicitly animated sequence.
- 2Select the still output
Use PNG to avoid another lossy encoding, WebP for a modern raster alternative, or still GIF only for a compatible requirement.
- 3Compare or hand off
Review size, dimensions and palette effects for separate results, or carry the visible order into the GIF timeline and set motion controls there.
From JPG: what changes
This focused converter accepts JPG sources and creates separate PNG, WebP or single-frame GIF images. When you want one animation instead, the same ordered JPG batch moves directly into the full GIF timeline without another file chooser.

- Decodes each JPG and re-encodes it as PNG, WebP or one independent still GIF.
- PNG and WebP keep the decoded width and height; still GIF keeps them unless either side exceeds 4,096 pixels, then scales both dimensions proportionally.
- Creates new pixel-based files without copying common EXIF camera or location blocks.
- Carries two or more selected JPGs into the animation timeline in their current visible order when you choose the animated path.
Before you download
- Changing a JPG to PNG does not restore detail already lost to JPG compression and can make the file larger.
- WebP quality affects the new encoding; compare the result before discarding your original.
- A GIF palette holds up to 256 colors, so photographs and gradients can show color banding.
- The still-GIF output creates one file per JPG. Combining frames is a separate, explicit timeline step so timing and loop behavior stay reviewable.
From JPG FAQs
Should I choose PNG, WebP or GIF?
Choose PNG for a lossless workflow, WebP when a compact still matters, or GIF only when the destination specifically requires a still GIF.
Can several JPGs become one animated GIF?
Yes. Add at least two JPGs, choose Animate these JPGs, then review their carried-over order, timing and loop behavior in the full timeline. Choosing still GIF output continues to make one independent file per JPG.
Will PNG make my JPG sharper?
No. Conversion changes the container and encoding, but it cannot recover detail removed before the JPG reached PixHandy.
